SURPASS

Survey to Understand Recruitment and Promotion Across the Social Finance Sector

Purpose

We want to explore how workplace culture and organizational practices impact the hiring and promotion of individuals from all backgrounds in social finance.

We aim to explore various questions, including:

1. Inclusion and Belonging: Do people from diverse backgrounds feel welcome and included in their workplaces? Do they have a strong sense of belonging?

2. Opportunities: Are individuals from underrepresented backgrounds being hired into the sector? How do positive or adverse professional experiences impact personal well-being and professional development?

3. Leadership and Management: Does staff feel like their leadership and management teams are diverse and representative? Does a diverse leadership affect employees’ sense of belonging?

Intended audience

Social finance is an approach to mobilizing capital that delivers a social dividend and an economic return to achieve social and environmental goals. Individuals working in social finance can be located across public, private, and corporate foundations, credit unions, banks, impact investing firms, the government, and other asset management firms.
