Amid a year of global pushback against efforts to increase diverse leadership representation, Canadian venture capital delivered a bright spot: leadership is becoming more representative.
A BDC report shows that in 2024, 45 percent of GPs had senior investment teams made up of at least half women (up from 38 percent), and 50 percent reached the same threshold for visible minority representation (up from 40 percent).
The gains indicate that, despite the noise, many Canadian firms are still expanding the circle of those who gets to shape investment decisions.
As we begin 2026, it serves as a reminder that progress is ongoing, systems are shifting, and momentum is already underway. The opportunity now is to keep building on it.
